The Commonwealth of Independent States is where we send travellers who want the old routes without the queues. Georgia in May, when the Caucasus passes open; Uzbekistan in October, when Samarkand's light goes gold; Kazakhstan for the steppe and the Charyn canyon; Azerbaijan as the stopover that keeps earning another day. Armenia's monasteries and Russia's two capitals round out a region we are actively building itineraries for now.
