A deep green fjord between mountain walls at Geiranger, Norway.

Norway

Norway is what happens when a coastline takes itself seriously — fjords cut a kilometre deep, farm ledges above green water, and light that stretches summer evenings past bedtime. We go when the fjord light gets long, and in the polar winter for the aurora over the Lofoten wall. It is expensive and worth planning precisely because of it.
